"I wouldn't worry about the dollar amount. It is always based on percentage. So for ANY PRICED item, a "normal member" would receive 1 point for every dollar of the item. Therefore, if an item costs $100, they would get 100 points. Now this is where the 1% comes in... 100 points is = $1.00 in discount. So if a $100 item = 100 pts, and 100 pts = $1.00, you could then say: $100 item = 100 points = $1.00 discount (or you could say it as a 1% discount).
Once you understand that, the premium membership simply gives you 3 times the points. so the same example would be: $100 item = 300 points = $3.00 discount.
Essentially, you would need to spend over $400 in the course of a year (with the premium membership) to 'break even' with the cost of the membership. But then after that point, you would get a greater discount.
I just signed up for the Premium membership right before I placed my MP-44 order. At $417, I would have received ~400 pts, but with the premium, I received ~1200 pts. This = $12.00 in discounts, which is more than the cost of membership. So in one purchase, it already "paid" for itself and every figure I buy for the rest of the year will have 3x the points."
