▼Today I’m bringing you Gear Factory’s upcoming new release, TFP Skyquake. After the last release of Dreadwing, it was already decided that this mold would be recolored into Skyquake, since the two are twin molds in the animation. Not long after, Skyquake has arrived. Let’s see how the toy performs.
The toy’s packaging box follows Gear Factory’s usual style. The center of the box shows Skyquake in 2D robot-mode artwork. The top-right corner has an Easter egg featuring Dreadwing’s vehicle mode, and the bottom-right corner shows a toppled Optimus Prime—this is the brothers’ fantasy moment. The back of the box features Dreadwing’s artwork in black-and-white line art, with no other significant information.

▼I’ve mentioned Gear Factory’s packaging many times before. The box tape is a non-reversible design once opened, preventing reselling as “new.” The inner packaging uses EVA foam, which protects the toy far better than blister or paper packaging, though the cost is higher. After so many years, Gear Factory still insists on this. Regardless of the toy itself, the attitude is clear.

▼The box contents include the Skyquake figure, a Gatling gun, a large sword, and two replacement head sculpts. Compared to the original version, the figure is about two centimeters larger and has noticeably improved texture quality.
The default head sculpt has a serious expression. By swapping, you can use the other two head sculpts with evil grin or angry expressions. The head sculpt has sharp angles, capturing Skyquake’s facial characteristics well. The eyes are translucent, allowing light to pass through noticeably.

▼Some people told me that this Skyquake uses modified ABS material, with high strength and toughness. I didn’t take materials science courses in college, so I don’t understand ABS and such. But I feel fairly confident about this toy’s material; normal play should not cause problems.
Skyquake’s mold is identical to Dreadwing’s; the only difference is the paint. Skyquake is primarily green with orange-red and metallic silver accents. The cockpit glass is translucent, made in the yellow-orange color seen in the reference artwork. The front and side toes have added metallic silver paint. The original version’s thigh had missing paint, which is fixed here. The soft rubber knee armor from the original version is now hard plastic.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼The toy’s back stores the wings in vehicle mode. The hollow area behind the calves in the original version is filled in, improving the appearance. Although the back structure looks complex, it is not messy. Additionally, the gray plastic parts have a layer of silver-gray paint, giving a metallic texture that stands out more with all the exposed mechanical details.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼The head can rotate and tilt slightly up or down. Arms can rotate vertically and lift well past 90 degrees. Upper arms rotate; elbows bend about 90 degrees. Wrists rotate; the limbs can move in coordinated directions.
Legs can kick forward and sideways near 90 degrees, backward about 90 degrees. Thighs rotate; knees bend near 90 degrees. Feet can plant forward and backward; inner toes can plant inward. Skyquake’s articulation covers almost all joints seen in classic toys. Lower body articulation is slightly limited but overall is above average.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼Unlike Dreadwing’s heavy cannon, Skyquake’s most iconic weapon is this giant Gatling gun. The Gatling gun is a newly made Gear Factory part; the original Dreadwing or Skyquake weapons were undersized. This Gatling gun fits the toy perfectly and closely replicates the animation, with red light paint on the body, hollow barrels, and silver metallic paint. Rotating the barrels by hand is possible. This Gatling significantly enhances the toy’s overall look.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼In the animation, Skyquake never used a sword, nor drew one from the Gatling, so the toy does not have this function. However, the manufacturer includes a Dreadwing-style long sword, expanding Skyquake’s melee weapons.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼Compared to the original, Gear Factory added a hollow section on Skyquake’s back, allowing the Gatling and long sword to mount there. This feature is just an extra play option and provides a weapon storage method.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼Skyquake’s transformation is not difficult; once or twice is enough to memorize it. The highlight of the transformation is that, while retaining parts of the original design, the hip transformation structure was redone, directly fixing the original crotch gap issue. The jet mode is highly complete, with well-covered armor. Because the robot legs have minimal transformation design, the jet chassis is slightly thicker.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼The original landing gear was just for show; Gear Factory changed it to functional wheels. The underside is partially filled, making the jet look more compact. A hand storage structure was added to prevent exposure. The tail thrusters are slightly enlarged compared to the original, with more line details.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼Two new slots were added under the jet wings to mount the Gatling gun and long sword. This is purely optional; mounting such a large Gatling under the wing is not aesthetically harmonious, so the function is more important than the look.
![Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1 Gear Factory Bolt TFP Skyquake Modified Version - View 1]()
▼Gear Factory’s Dreadwing/Skyquake mold fixes nearly all the original issues and has very high completion. This Skyquake continues the mold while correcting Dreadwing’s overly pronounced waterline effect. The accessories include a newly made Gatling gun and the Dreadwing-style long sword. This is currently the best Skyquake toy on the market. If you previously bought Dreadwing, this Skyquake is essentially a must-have. After more than ten years, the two brothers finally reunite in their true forms.

▼That concludes this review. Thank you all for watching.
