Takara Tomy Diaclone DA-109 DIA-BATTLES X-1
Material: ABS
Height: Unknown
This noon, while cracking sunflower seeds at home and translating Japanese song lyrics, the delivery guy suddenly rang my doorbell. To my surprise, the DA109X1 had arrived! I gleefully started reviewing it.
![]()
▼Upon unboxing, I noticed excessive wasted space inside the packaging.
![]()
▼Then... "lottery win" during unboxing — the left foot connector part was crooked. After unscrewing and investigating, I realized it just wasn’t fully inserted. Plugging it in properly and tightening the screw fixed it completely.
![]()
▼False alarm over! Continued the review. Since I can’t afford the original color V2 or Battle Comb, I compared it with my Moonlight V2 and Armored Combined variant. Suddenly realized how pathetic-looking the V2 is.
![]()
▼The head antenna is hard plastic — no more worrying about bent antennas, but now I fear snapping it accidentally. The head features a retractable faceplate, but sacrifices the translucent crown piece. The eyes aren’t as bright as V2’s, and despite having the same gimmick, it lacks V2’s eyes gradually brighten when extended effect. Minor disappointment.
![]()
▼Sharing thoughts about the faceplate design.
![]()
▼Articulation test: Arms have 90° lateral swing (no gear joints) . Thighs have 90° lateral swing (with proper gear joint tolerance), unlike that garbage MPG Ginrai from Transformers department .
![]()
▼Elbows bend ~100° (gear joints present) . Arm forward/backward swing (gear joints) .
![]()
▼Hands use 4-finger articulated hands — inferior to Blue Bull’s movable thumb + multi-jointed fingers. Wrists rotate 360°. Side armor panels open to reveal thruster mode.
▼The thrusters have four independently movable claws. When fully deployed, they reminded me of Facehuggers from Alien — imagine these grabbing Valdar Robot Army heads for maximum psychological damage!
![]()
▼Feet articulation: ~45° tilt (barely sufficient) .
![]()
▼Thigh forward/backward swing 90° (no gear joints) .
![]()
▼Knees use dual-stage gear joints: - Each segment bends ~85°, Total bend ~135°.
![]()
▼Front foot tilt 45°, rear tilt 90° — excellent stance adjustment.
![]()
▼When testing the left knee joint, the upper segment was impossibly stiff. Disassembling revealed a broken gray fragment lodged in the slot. After removing debris, the joint worked normally. Thank God I wasn’t live-streaming this X1 unboxing — imagine viewers watching me disassemble joints with screwdrivers mid-stream! Takara Tomy (TT) executives would’ve canceled Diaclone team’s year-end bonuses. Shoutout to Diaclone for using screws on critical joints — unlike the Transformers team’s haphazardly using rivets (would’ve needed customer service otherwise).
![]()
▼Continued testing: The 90° thigh lift limits kneeling poses — can’t achieve natural "slammed ground" poses.
![]()
▼Final pose attempt: I never read manuals, so just randomly plugged parts everywhere.
![]()
▼Conclusion: X1 has no major design flaws and provides smooth handling. Don’t understand why TT reissued V2 after X1 — owning X1 makes V2 obsolete.
Customer service comparison: Diaclone team responsibly addressed TM31’s mispainted wing lights (issued statement + replacement program). Transformers team remains utterly unresponsive about MPG Ginrai’s issues — "dead fish" energy. This alone makes me willing to "feed TT for another decade" through Diaclone purchases.
![]()
▼Insert TM31 Custom group photo.
![]()
▼Per group members’ request: Adding Blue Bull interaction pics… Wait, wrong "interaction" type!
![]()
▼X1 can use Blue Bull’s limbs, but Blue Bull can’t attach X1 feet (deeper X1 leg ports) — photos show precarious balancing .
![]()
▼Blue Bull can’t use X1’s flight pack due to back armor interference.
![]()
▼Review complete! Exhausted — everyone back to drawer hibernation!
